Comparison and matching of Israel system of School education and Ukrainian Higher medical education

Background. Ukraine is a popular country among foreign student as it provides relatively cheap and qualitative higher education; enrollees from Israel comprise one of the top ten groups by their quantity. Objective. The purpose of this work was to reveal the most prominent differences between Israel school education and Ukrainian higher medical education to facilitate the adaptation of students from respective country during transition from one system to another. Methods. We have performed written questionnaire among English-speaking students of the first course of Dnipropetrovsk medical academy and processed this data with the help of MS Excel. Results. The most prominent features of Israel school education comparing with Ukrainian higher medical education are: 1) predomination of classroom work and teachers’ explanation over homework and self-education; 2) predomination of written quiz over oral; 3) Absence of obligatory controls every practical lessons; 4) confidentiality of educational performance data. Conclusion. To adapt enrollees from Israel to the system of Ukrainian higher medical education it is important to take into account all discrepancies, that we have revealed in our survey.References
